The platen 1 is rotated forline spacing by a constantly reciprocating arm 11 which engages a hook member 15 whena solenoid 13 is energized to attract an arm 14 and acts through rods 2, 3, side plates 4, 5,a pawl 8, and a ratchet wheel 9, to turn a spindle 10. A bell-crank lever 30 is at the sametime rotated by a lug 32 on the rod 3 and through a Bowden wire 29, detachablyconnected to it, acts through a pawl 22 and a ratchet wheel 20 and other linkage torotate a spindle 16 on which is the transfer web b. Thus, for each line spacing, the transferweb is fed a small increment preferably less than the depth of the type so that the wholeweb is usefully used. Alternatively, the feed of the spindle 16 may be controlled directlyby the action of the printing unit or by other parts which are actuated each time therecord webs are imprinted or fed. comprises a solenoid 33, Fig. 4, which when energized acts through an armature 35, lever36 and pin and slot connections 39 and 41 to activate a similar pawl and ratchetmechanism 20a, 22a in the transfer web feed. The solenoid 33 may be energized at thesame time as the solenoid 13 or directly from the other means, mentioned above, forcontrolling the transfer web feed.
