However, even aperfectly designed machine can be damaged, or someonecan still be injured if the user does not follow the safetyrules. It is the responsibility of the user to make sure allsafety rules are followed during operation andmaintenance.Be sure to read these safety rules before operating themachine. Keep this manual close to hand whenoperating the machine.Safety Guidelines1.About Symbols

To avoid injury to persons and damage to the machine, Fuji employs a number of messagesand symbols that are used in manuals and on the machines. Be sure you understand themeanings of these symbols before reading the manual.Hazard warnings are divided into the following three classes:

DANGERWARNINGCAUTIONThe hazard or unsafe practice will cause severe injury ordeath.The hazard or unsafe practice may cause severe injury ordeath.The hazard or unsafe practice may lead to personal injuryor damage to the machine.To distinguish the type of hazard, the following symbols are used in combination with theones above.Hazard AlertA triangle is used to draw your attention to a hazard. The symbol inside thetriangle indicates the nature of the hazard (in this case electrical shock).ProhibitionA circle with a diagonal line inside is used to draw your attention to anoperation that is prohibited. The symbol inside the circle indicates the natureof the operation (in this case disassembly).A circle with an exclamation mark is used to draw your attention to amandatory action. Safety Guidelines2.Safety Rules for All Machine Types

DANGERDo not approach moving parts during automatic ormanual operation.qDo not place hands or other body parts inside the machine duringautomatic operation or positioning.Body parts or clothing may be caught in the machine causingpersonal injury.Do not operate the machine with the safety covers ordoors open.qDo not leave covers or safety doors open, except duringadjustment.qWhen adjustments are completed, return the covers and doors totheir original (closed) position.qWhen safety covers or doors are removed, body parts or clothingmay be caught in the machine causing personal injury. Always besure to replace the safety covers or doors.WARNINGAlways verify the position of the EMERGENCY STOPbuttons before operating the machine.q Always be aware of the positions of the EMERGENCY STOPbuttons so that they can be pressed quickly in case of anemergency.q To reduce accidents and injury to a minimum, it is essential to knowthe positions and understand the use of the EMERGENCY STOPbuttons.Check the safety functions before starting operation.q Before starting the machine check the operation of theEMERGENCY STOP button, the safety switches on the acryliccovers, the safety switch on the rear fence gate, the optical sensorson the rear fence and all other machine safety features.q Contact a Fuji serviceman immediately if any of the safety functionsfails.Do not remove safety switches.qDo not remove safety switches or disarm the safety functions.qDisarming the safety switches may result in injury when othersunknowingly press the START button.qFuji does not take any responsibility when a machine isdisassembled without Fuji's permission, even if this results inaccidents or trouble.Version 3.62GL-541E Maintenance

Safety GuidelinesWARNINGCheck that there is nobody inside the machine whenworking on the machine with two persons or more.qVerify that nobody is within or near the machine before operatingthe machine. Operating the machine may cause injury to theperson who is carrying out maintenance.[Example]If one person moves the device table while another person isexchanging a feeder, the latter may be injured.Do not close the fence when someone is inside thefence.qWhen the fence is opened, it is safe to approach the machine.Closing the fence, however, will put anybody working inside thefence in immediate danger when the RESET or START button ispressed. Be sure to leave the fence open when anyone is insidethe fence.Do not approach a machine that has stopped moving.qThere are times during automatic operation when the machine mayappear to have stopped while it is waiting for a board, waiting for thenext machine, reading marks, transmitting data, etc. In such cases,once certain conditions are fulfilled, the machine will begin movingagain automatically, so care should be taken. Only approach themachine after the EMERGENCY STOP button has been pressed.When the message \"Ready\" displays at the machine display, themachine will begin to move once certain conditions are fulfilled.qKeep in mind that the machine will begin to move regardless ofwhether these conditions are fulfilled intentionally or inadvertently.Version 3.63GL-541E Maintenance

Safety GuidelinesWARNINGResupply solder paste, glue and parts while themachine is in manual mode.q Never resupply solder, glue or parts during automatic operationunless instructed otherwise. Body parts or clothing may be caughtin the machine causing personal injury.Do not place hands near the main conveyor.q Hands or other body parts may be caught in the machine.Always turn the 200 V power supply off when cleaningor lubricating the machine.q When the 200 V power supply to the machine is turned on, theservo amps will be activated. In this condition the machine mayunexpectedly begin to move.Do not insert or remove connectors while power isbeing supplied to the machine.q Removing or inserting connectors while power is supplied to themachine may not only cause damage to the machine, but may alsocause electrical shock.q Be sure to cut the power to the machine before inserting orremoving connectors.Stay clear from the machine when it is being lifted.q Never put hands or feet under the machine when the machine isbeing raised by means of a jack or other device for leveling ortransport.Version 3.64GL-541E Maintenance

Safety GuidelinesWARNINGDo not look into the conveyor inlet or outlet and do notopen the cover. (Reflow oven)q Do not look into the conveyor inlet or outlet and do not open thecover.[Example]The UV light on the reflow oven may damage eyesight or result inburns.Exchange the halogen lamp only after it has cooleddown.q When turned on, halogen lamps will reach high temperatures,resulting in skin burns when touched. To exchange a halogenlamp, turn off the power and allow the lamp to cool off sufficiently.Do not wear gloves made of cloth when operating themachine.q Rubber gloves will tear when caught by the machine and preventhands from being drawn into the machine. Gloves made of cottonor similarly strong material may cause hands to be drawn into themachine.Long hair should be tied back.q Long hair may get caught in running machines. Hair should be kept short or tied back so that it does not get caughtin the machine.Turn off the air supply when carrying out maintenanceon cylinders, valves, and filters.q Removing cylinders, valves, or filters without turning the air supplyoff, may cause parts or particles to be propelled into the eyes.q Be sure to turn off the air supply when carrying out maintenance oncylinders, valves, and filters.Version 3.65GL-541E Maintenance

Safety GuidelinseWARNINGBe sure to wear protective glasses.q Be sure to wear protective glasses.[Example]CP-6, -7 nozzles use springs which may be propelled duringdisassembly. Be sure to handle the nozzles carefully to prevent eyeinjuries.Check the machine monitor while manually operatingthe machine.q When operating the machine, carefully follow the instructions thatare displayed at the machine display.q Operating the machine without looking at the machine display maylead to operating errors or result in damage to the machine orproducts.CAUTIONDo not operate the machine after removing or disablingsensors.q Removing or disabling sensors will disarm the interlock, leading tocollisions and damage to the machine.Check the machine display to determine whetherHELPS compatible machines are in the middle ofperforming changeover.q During operation in automatic mode on machines equipped withautomatic changeover equipment, it may be difficult to actually seeautomatic changeover taking place from the front of the machine. When a message appears at the machine display, follow theinstructions that are given.Version 3.66GL-541E Maintenance

Safety GuidelinesCAUTIONDo not touch the servo amp power terminal for at leastfive minutes after turning off the power.q The servo amp retains a high voltage even after the power hasbeen turned off. Always wait at least five minutes, and ensure thatthe CHARGE lamp is off, before undertaking any work that mayresult in contact with the servo amp terminal.3.Safety Rules for Individual Machine Types

WARNINGBe aware of the cooler box.q To avoid head injury, do not stand up suddenly when workingbeneath the cooler box fitted to the top rear of the machine.Do not touch the high voltage section within themachine's control box.q The Brown tube section within the machine's control box containshigh voltage wiring. Do not insert your hand or any metal object intothis part as it may cause electrical shock.Version 3.67GL-541E Maintenance

Safety Guidelines4.Safety Rules when Handling Chemicals

WARNINGUse water to remove ethanol from the eyes.q If glue or ethanol enters the eyes, the eyes should immediately bewashed out with plentiful amounts of water. The person in questionshould also receive an examination from an eye specialist as soonas possible.Keep alcohol and flux away from fire.q Since alcohol based flux and certain other chemical products areflammable, care should be taken to prevent fires.Be sure to provide sufficient ventilation for machinesthat release dangerous gas during the reflow process.q Make sure that the gases generated during reflow operation areproperly ventilated.q The solder pastes found on the market today are composed of suchsubstances as organic solvents, lead, and chlorine.Due to the dangerous nature of such materials, solder pastesshould be used and handled in strict compliance with the lawsand regulations in each country. Please exercise extremecaution when handling such substances.q Do not let solder paste come into contact with your skin or clothing.If it does, use plentiful amounts of water, cleaning fluid or alcohol toclean it off. If solder paste gets into your eyes, wash your eyes outimmediately with ample quantities of water and consult a doctor assoon as possible.q Protective gloves and glasses should be worn to prevent solderpaste from coming into contact with the skin when handling thesematerials.Version 3.68GL-541E Maintenance

Safety GuidelinesCAUTIONWear protective gloves when handling glue or solderpaste.q When handling glue or solder paste, wear protective gloves to avoidsolder or glue coming into contact with the skin.q When using solvent to clean machine parts, use protective gloves,eyewear, a face shield and an apron.q In case glue, solder paste, etc. comes into contact with the skin, useplentiful amounts of water, cleaning fluid or alcohol to remove theglue or solder paste. In the event of an emergency, press the EMERGENCY STOP button located on themachine at the position indicated in the figure below.

Prior to operating the machine, make sure that no one is near the machine, or thatanyone other than yourself is touching the machine.

8.Do not Leave Tools in or on the Machine

Following maintenance on a machine, make sure that no tools have been left in or on themachine. Tools that get caught in the machine's moving parts may cause severe damageto the machine.

Chapter 3 Changeover1. Changing a Syringe

Purpose

Replace a syringe when the glue runs out, or when a different type of adhesive must beused.

Procedure

Removal

1.

Use the inching operation to inch the syringe head to the center of the machinewhere it is easily accessible, then press the EMERGENCY STOP button and cut thepower to the machine.

Turn the cap nut clockwise as viewed from above and remove it.

Remove the syringe assembly from the head as described below.(1)While pressing the head down with one hand to keep the glue-level check

sensor out of the way, use the other hand to lift the syringe fixing ring(black) several millimeters. (Lift until the ring's lock pins detach from thesyringe tab.)

Note:The syringe fixing ring is held onto the syringe holder by a magnet.2.3.

Rotate the syringe assembly leftward 90 degrees, then pull the assemblyupward to remove it from the syringe holder.

Lift off the rotary joint locking flange, then rotate the syringe approximately 90degrees to detach it from the rotary joint.

Insert the float into the syringe so that air is purged as shown in the figure below.

Attach the adaptor to the syringe.

When necessary, use the centrifugal deairing device (optional) to inject glue intothe adaptor. (Refer to section 4. \"Removing Air Bubbles in the Glue\".)Mount the needle on the adaptor.

Note:Mount the needle by aligning the adaptor's locating pin with the needle's notch.4.

Push the rotary joint cap all the way to the top end of the syringe, then rotate it(approximately 90 degrees) until a clicking sound is heard (this locks the cap).Align the adaptor's notch with the syringe holder's pin position, then insert thesyringe assembly into the holder.

Install the cap nut.

Notes: If a head is not used during production, be sure to install an empty syringe (withadapter attached) and the rotary joint to form an airtight seal. This will prevent airfrom escaping and help to maintain the glue temperature. After installing the needle and before operation, eject approximately 0.2 cc of glue throughthe needle to drive out air trapped in the joint. The syringes are disposable. Fuji recommends using the syringes twice. Further use willwear down the ridges which are used to lock the syringe into place and the syringe may fallfrom the holder.

Purpose

Needles are changed to correspond to different production programs or a needle may bereplaced when a nozzle becomes clogged.

Procedure

Removal

Use the inching operation to inch the syringe head to the center of the machinewhere it is easily accessible, then press the EMERGENCY STOP button and cut thepower to the machine.

Turn the cap nut clockwise as viewed from above and remove it.

Remove any hardened glue on the end of the adapter or flange surface of theneedle.

Note:The internal diameter is marked on the needle for identification, as shown in thefollowing figure.Indicates 0.5 mm inner diameter.5GL541-m38E2.

First, mount the adaptor and needle on the syringe, then mount the syringe,adaptor, and needle assembly on the head's syringe holder.

needle, are determined by the locating pin and the notch. When setting the needlein the adaptor and tightening the cap nut, be sure that the adaptor pin is securelypositioned in the needle's notch.

Storage of the Needles

Soak nozzles that have been removed in one of the solvents listed below and thenstore. To reuse the needle, clean off the solvent and any residual glue usingcompressed air.

Solvents:Acetone or trichlene.

“Safety Cleaner 41 g” manufactured by Loctite.

“Cleaner S-10” manufactured by Sanei Chemical Co.
