What Do I Eat for My Three Meals Every Day?
Hi there! My name is Emma, and I'm a 10-year-old girl in the fifth grade. Today, my teacher asked us to write an essay about what we usually eat for our three meals every day. I love food, so I'm really excited to share with you what I eat!
Let's start with breakfast, which is my favorite meal of the day. I wake up feeling really hungry, so I always look forward to a yummy breakfast. On school days, my mom usually makes me scrambled eggs with cheese and a side of whole-grain toast with strawberry jam. I also have a glass of orange juice to drink. Eggs are my favorite breakfast food because they're so versatile – you can make them scrambled, fried, or even as an omelet with veggies inside!
On weekends, my dad likes to make us pancakes or waffles for breakfast. He always lets me add chocolate chips or
blueberries to the batter, which makes them even more delicious. We top them with maple syrup and sometimes have bacon or sausage links on the side. Breakfast on weekends is a special treat for me!
For lunch, I either bring my food to school or buy it from the cafeteria. My favorite lunch to bring from home is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on whole wheat bread, an apple, baby carrots, and a yogurt cup. Sometimes my mom will pack me a turkey and cheese sandwich instead, which is also really yummy. I try to drink milk or water with my lunch instead of sugary juices or sodas.
When I buy lunch from the cafeteria, I usually get the school pizza, which is actually pretty good. They have options like pepperoni or veggie lovers. I'll also get a side salad with ranch dressing, a fruit cup, and a carton of milk.
Now, let's talk about dinner, which is when my family sits down together to eat. We try to have a balanced meal with a protein source, vegetables or salad, and a grain or starch. One of my favorite dinners is grilled chicken with roasted potatoes and steamed broccoli. My mom makes the best roasted potatoes – she coats them in olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic before roasting them in the oven until they're crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
Another dinner I really enjoy is whole wheat spaghetti with turkey meatballs and marinara sauce. We'll have a side salad or garlic bread to go with it. My dad is a great cook, and he makes
the meatballs himself using lean ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning. They're so flavorful and filling!
On Fridays, we sometimes get take-out food for dinner as a treat. My favorite is getting Chinese food like beef and broccoli, fried rice, and an egg roll. We'll also order chicken lo mein or sweet and sour chicken sometimes. It's a nice break from cooking for my parents.
For dessert after dinner, we usually have a small portion of something sweet but not too unhealthy. Some of my favorite desserts are a scoop of ice cream (I love chocolate and strawberry flavors), a few cookies (chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin are the best!), or fresh fruit like grapes, oranges, or a banana.
Well, that's pretty much what I eat for my three meals every day! As you can see, I try to have a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Of course, I also allow myself to indulge in treats like pizza, pasta, or ice cream from time to time. Eating a variety of foods keeps me healthy and gives me the energy I need to do well in school and have fun playing outside with my friends. I'm so lucky that my
parents make sure I have nutritious and delicious meals every day!
