On action and reflection

Nowadays action is highly valued and respected. It is a common belief that we must not be an intellectual giant but a dwarf in action. Today is all-action society, and almosteveryone is on -the-run and taking action without ever taking time to reflect. We spend almost all the time in studying or working. We felt that we are so busy that we have no time to think. But a fruitful and rewarding life requires the balance of action and reflection. In my opinion this balance is very important. In the following, I will demonstrate my understanding of the importance of this balance.

Firstly, on no account should we underestimate the power of taking actions. A philosopher said that”actions speak louder than words”. If we have dreams, we must take actions to make it come true. For example, if you want to be a good teacher, you must do a lot of practices to improve your teaching skills.

Secondly, Confucius once said that learning without thought is labor lost, thought without learning is perilous. No doubt that reflection is significant. No one is perfect in the world. We often make different mistakes. Reflection can help us find errors and correct them. In this process, we can find a way to deal with something better.

Last but not least, only we achieve a balance of action and reflection, can we succeed. Action can help us enrich our thoughts. Reflection can help us improve our practical ability. A fruitful and rewarding life requires the balance of action and reflection.
